Engtec have established a long-standing relationship with SBS in assisting them across a wide range of services works ranging from, central plant upgrades, office fitouts, Television Studio plant modifications Central Apparatus Room (CAR) improvements and much more. The following is snapshot of some of the most recent works:

(CAR) Mechanical Plant Upgrade

CAR rooms are SBS’ mission critical systems that operate 24/7 and are designed with triple redundancy. Engtec were involved in the design for the staged upgrade of these live systems. Furthermore, Engtec were also involved in modifying the air flow dispersion within the CAR rooms for improved and more efficient heat dissipation.

Central Chilled Water Plant Upgrade

The central chilled water plant serving SBS had reached the end of its economical and practical lifecycle. Engtec were engaged for the design and upgrade of the central plant and all the associated ancillaries.

Level 1 Content Refurbishment

The entire level 1 of the building incorporating the Online and Content area was remodeled to include a revised office furniture layout, introduction of four viewing rooms, a large boardroom, three meeting rooms and a semi commercial kitchen incorporating break out area.

Studio 1 Plant Improvements

Studio 1 is one of SBS’ main broadcasting studios. The mechanical plant is shared with that of Studio 2 which can incorporate a live audience of up to 100 people. The indoor conditions of studio 1 were affected by the operation of Studio 2. To improve conditions and considerably reduce energy consumption, Engtec reengineered the mechanical plant to enable Studio 1 to have its own stand alone system.

Ground Floor Ingest and Broadcasting Operation

The ground floor entailed the demolishing of partitions and creating an open plan office space incorporating two meeting rooms and three control rooms (Social media, technical control and production control) all of which required specialised acoustic control measures.

Ground Floor Marketing Area Remodeling

The ground floor at the north east end of the complex was totally remodeled to include the addition of multiple team meeting points, additional media rooms and meeting rooms. Low ceiling heights in these areas provided challenging conditions to extend mechanical services and ducting. Engtec with the assistance of specialized suppliers were able to introduce a unique method of air conditioning the entire zone with clever application of fabric ducting and customized jet diffusion.
